The NEPHRO ROOM (part 3)
It was a very warm day and everyone wants to get rid of the heat. The room was like burning and the only thing that brought to a standstill was the fan in the ceiling. The doctor came indoors the room and converse with the patient in the BED A. And boom! The displeasure was mounting. Oh No! The mother of the patient in the Bed A was so mad. I positioned myself blocking the door. I thought that time that they were going out the room and leave the hospital for good. I chatted with the mother of the patient in the Bed A and asked her the doctor told her. It was the “GOING HOME” thing that made the room almost blown up. And finally I have known the reason for the near chaos! According to her, she wanted to discharge her son (the patient in the BED A) from hospitalization but the doctors won’t allow them to go out the hospital. But the Doctors told her that her son might have leukemia and was too risky for the child to go out. Wow! What should I say! What should I do! And what should I say! I told the mother that if it was really leukemia, then it would be too risky for the child to be out in the hospital. I asked her what decision she was going to make. And still, she wanted that her son discharged as soon as possible. She insisted what she wanted and finally after days, they were discharge with the notion of having leukemia. A choice was made and the only way to show patient advocacy is letting them go.

yeah you're right..
that is one of the biggest problems that we can(wannabe nurses) encounter in the real set-up..even how we long to get all those patients cured, still are faced by the reality that the "choice" is not in our hands..and sometimes, the best thing to do is just to let go..
i hope that by the grace of God, both the patient and his/er mother will be healed from this torment.
