I had cataract surgery on both eyes, my right eye was just a couple of weeks ago. I am only 30, so I was probably born with them. I can honestly tell you, this did not hurt at all! the metal that holds the eye open is the worst part. The eye is numb. The difference in vision is AMAZING, and the surgery is worth any risk! It was neat to see the video, but I am glad I saw it after the surgery, It looks so much worse than I imagined.
