Drinking More Water Burns Calories

Monday, March 2, 2009

Does consuming more water actually a good diet? A study suggests that drinking more water may help burn calories each day. The study recommends that 50 calories per liter or quart of water.

Drinking Water While on “Starve Yourself”?

  • Drinking a glass of water whenever you feel hungry and before a meal or snack fills up the stomach for a short time and makes you sense fuller and stop eating faster.
  • Metabolism of fat and body muscle during weight loss creates wastes that must be removed through the kidneys. Drinking sufficient water is vital to keep the kidneys performance to remove these wastes.
  • Trendy high-protein diets make extra waste products from digestion, let alone from metabolizing stored fat. Kidney function is yet further significant when on a high-protein diet.
  • If the dieter is ingesting plain water, you are less expected to be drinking a little with calories in it.

Drinking Water Momentarily Increases Metabolism

A regular drinking 500 millimeter of water amplified the study participants' metabolism for a short time. In that instance they burned an extra 25 calories. The researchers hypothesized that most of the result comes from warming the water in the stomach. In the male partakers the calories came typically from stored fat, in the women it came from stored carbohydrates. The paper was in print in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, December, 2003. It was conducted by researchers in Berlin.

War on fat

Sunday, February 15, 2009

Much has changed since the early years of liposuction. The basic surgical suctioning of fat, now known as the "dry" technique, required hospitalization and general anesthesia for every patient, and blood transfusions were usually needed because of the substantial blood loss. For this reason, the dry technique has since been all but completely abandoned since the early 1990s.

The plastic surgery community has since developed a collection of techniques which are continually evolving. These techniques often allow liposuction to be performed in an out-patient setting under local anesthesia and with little blood loss. Here we will discuss the most popular techniques used today in plastic surgery’s “war on fat.”
